Trinity (Whitesville) overcame Edmonson County to advance to the 12th District Tournament, while McLean County and Hancock County fell in the opening round of the 10th and 11th District Tournaments.

Breckinridge County 64, Hancock County 52

Seth Hunt hit four threes to go with his game-high 16 points as the Hornets fell to Breckinridge County 64-52 in the 11th District Tournament. Hunt also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists, while Taylor Payne finished with 12 points and five rebounds, and Mekhel London recorded eight points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Muhlenberg County 71, McLean County 64

Layden Bozarth exploded for 36 points, and Jaelin Groves added 10 points as the Cougars dropped a heartbreaker to Muhlenberg County 71-64 in the 10th District Tournament.

“We gave a valiant effort, but came up short,’ McLean County Head Coach Darren Lynam said. “We had a bad end to the first half and start of the third quarter, which did us in. Our four seniors have had a fine career. They have won 49 games over the last three seasons and were the driving force in us making the 3rd Region Tournament last year. It just didn’t work out this year.”

Trinity (Whitesville) 75, Edmonson County 64

Mason Smith drilled six threes to go with his game-high 27 points to power the Raiders past Edmonson County 75-64 and advance to the 12th District Championship. Cale Boarman scored 20 points, Ian Roby hit a pair of threes to go with his eight points, and Grant Howard and Thomas Payne both finished with seven points.

“This was a tremendous team effort. I can’t say enough about how everyone stepped up tonight,” Trinity (Whitesville) Head Coach Nathan West said. “Mason Smith hit some huge threes in the third quarter to blow the game open, and Cale Boarman, who had been struggling from the line this season, knocked down big free throw after free throw. …I’m excited for the players, coaches, students, and the city of Whitesville.”
