Apollo’s Addison Bowman has signed with Austin Peay State University to continue her cheerleading and academic career.

Entering the cheer world as a sixth grader, she and the E-Gals won the 2024 Universal Cheer Association Hoosier Regional and finished second at State later that year. During her recruitment process, she was focused on attending school outside of Kentucky and also spoke with Troy University, but stated Austin Peay felt like home.

“Everybody was so welcoming, and there is something for everybody,’ Bowman said. “The cheer team felt like family; it was extremely welcoming, and every time I continued to go down there, I felt more and more like a part of the team. It was a big happy family, and everybody got along, and you don’t find that on most cheer teams.”

Inspired by her brother Harrison Bowman playing college baseball, she arrived at Apollo as a freshman determined to follow in his steps as a collegiate athlete. She started attending numerous cheer camps and utilized all avenues to put herself on coaches’ radars.

While at Austin Peay she plans to focus her studies on business and management marketing.

“When I get out of college, I want to go into interior design and hopefully open my own interior design business one day,” Bowman said. “While they don’t offer interior design, I felt that going the business route was extremely important for me. That way, I can get the business aspect of how to run a business and how to run a good business. That was extremely important for me to get that prior knowledge.”

With a few months before graduation, Bowman is a team manager for the E-Gals softball team, with the season kicking off this week. She is also involved in other clubs, including Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and before she graduates, she wants to leave her stamp on the school.

“I want to improve my skills in cheerleading and become a better person overall and a better Christian,” Bowman said. “I am really involved in FCA at Apollo, and Christianity is a really big thing for me, and I want to focus a lot more on that. I want to leave my mark on Apollo. Leave a legacy, make a change, and leave it better than I found it, and that is my main goal until I graduate.”
