
Barbara Jean Baird Ling, 70, of Whitesville, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Gateway Deaconess, where she went to her heavenly home surrounded by love.
She was born on October 30, 1955, in Hartford, Kentucky, to the late Tullis and Wilda Crow Baird. Barbara was known for her outgoing personality and her ability to make friends wherever she went. She was deeply loved by many and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit.
Barbara found great joy in caring for her family and her beloved puppy dogs. She also enjoyed being an artist, thrifting, crafting, and sewing, hobbies that reflected her creativity and resourcefulness. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she attended church faithfully, often going nearly every day.
She earned her Master’s degree from Western Kentucky University and dedicated over 40 years of service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky through her work in the Department of Employment. Her commitment and work ethic left a lasting impact on those she served and worked alongside.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband, Tranny Stout, and her brothers-in-law, Tony Ling and David Ling.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Bill; her children, Miranda (Arthur) Cook, Greg Ling, Stephanie (Aaron) Wample, and Brittany Ling; her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas and Grant Cook, Tianna Smith, Gage (Gwendolyn) Chace (Autumn), Easton (Jennay) Ling, Raylee Payne, and Addalyn, Emery, and Luca Roby; and eight great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother, Dennis (Sherry) Baird, as well as her extended family including Patty (Kenny) Taft, Joe Ling, Ronnie (Jana) Ling, Bobby (Patty) Ling, Danny (Lisa) Ling, and Sharon Russell.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with burial following at St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with prayers at 6:30 at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville KY.
