Jimmy James Prunes, Sr., 63, of Lewisport, passed away on March 31, 2026, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on October 3, 1962, in Mountain Village, Alaska, and was the beloved son of the late William “Rusty” and Mary Agatha Prunes.
Jimmy was a fun and loving man who cherished the people around him. An avid outdoorsman, he spent countless hours hunting and fishing alongside his brother, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. He dedicated over 30 years of his life to working as a commercial fisherman, a testament to his strong work ethic and love for the water. Jimmy was also a talented craftsman, known for creating beautiful jewelry pieces that he proudly shared with his family. In his quieter moments, he found joy in the simple things, especially long walks with his beloved dogs, Zeus and Cain, appreciating their companionship and the peace of the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his daughter, Jana Prunes, brothers, John and Davey Prunes, and granddaughter, Cadence Amos.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 17 years, Rita Prunes; children, Tiffany Amos, Jimmy Prunes, Jr., and Yvonne Evan; stepchildren, Greg Evan, Marquetta Zidrashko, Evan, James and Donald Fischer; sister-in-law, Lisa Taul and brother-in-law, J.R. Smith; as well as many other loving family and friends.
