June Kitchens Ward, 94, of Owensboro, passed away on April 3, 2026, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. She was born July 3, 1931, in Ohio County, to the late Charles and Della Peach Kitchens.
June was retired from The Pantry stores where she worked as a manager and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Grover C Ward; her brothers, Roger Kitchens and Lindell Kitchens; infant brother, Wyndall Kitchens; and her sister, Rae Nanney.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Charles) Hayden and Pam (Paul) Scherm; her grandkids who affectionately referred to her as their “Granna”, Chuck (Cici) Hayden, Kasey (Brett) Boehmann, Erika (John) Bickett, and Madison Scherm; great grandkids, Talon Boehmann, Peyton, Marley and Jaycee Bickett, and Davis and Henley Hayden, all of Owensboro; and two sisters, Rita Marshall and Barbara Sheler of Illinois.
The funeral service for June Ward will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Bob Farmer officiating. Burial to follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
