It was a busy day for the coverage teams, as Owensboro and Trinity (Whitesville) both won, while Apollo, Daviess County, Hancock County, and Owensboro Catholic all lost.
St. Edward 10, Apollo 5
Six errors became too much for the Eagles to overcome as they fell to St. Edward 10-5. Ty Lillpop went 2-4, Ross Millburn and Geordyn Stevens both drove in runs, and Braxton McLimore finished 1-1 with two RBIs. Isaac James started on the mound, allowing one earned run over 1 1/3 innings, while Jackson Carder, Jagger Pate, and Mclimore all pitched in relief.
Somerset 5, Daviess County 3
Trailing 5-0, the Panthers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but weren’t able to complete the comeback, losing to Somerset 5-3. Logan Mason went 1-3 with two RBIs, while Cameron Rickard, John Rue, Caden Embry, Gavin Howard, and Ethan Vinson all had hits. Nolan Johnson started on the mound, allowing two earned runs over four innings, while Rickard and Bradyn Morris both pitched in relief.
Hancock County swept in doubleheader
Playing a doubleheader, Hancock County dropped both games, losing to Paul Lawrence Dunbar 10-4 and Nichols 11-3. Against Paul Lawrence Dunbar, Porter Hay went 2-4, Grant Smith went 1-3 with two RBIs, and Dylan Mucker went 2-2 with an RBI.
University (Carmel), IN 10, Owensboro Catholic 8
Mason Russelburg and Karson White combined for three hits and five RBIs as the Aces fell to University (Carmel), IN 10-8. Barrett Evans and Mason Moser both had three hits, while Jaxson White and Jude Evans both drove in runs. Gentry Atwell started on the mound, allowing two earned runs over one inning, while Myles Grant, Lane Hundley, and Russelburg all pitched in relief.
Owensboro 6, Hollins 3
Griffin Gaddis went 1-4 with a homer and two RBIs to power the Red Devils past Hollins 6-3. Max Kahn and Jordan Quesnell both drove in runs, while Ty Ashley and Dax Garrison had two of the team’s seven hits. Nash Miller started on the mound, throwing two shutout innings, while Jaxon Fogle, Brayden Toler, Dathan Hinton, Ty Ashley, and Quesnell all pitched in relief.
Trinity (Whitesville) 24, Warren Central 15
Wade Burch was red hot at the plate, going 4-4 with six RBIs to power the Raiders past Warren Central 24-15. Harrison Barnett and Rylan Cecil both drove in three runs, Grant Howard and Cale Boarman both drove in a pair, and Nate Terry went 3-5 with an RBI.
Cecil started on the mound, allowing four earned runs over one inning, while Burch, Barrnett, Boarman, and Kayin Howard all pitched in relief.
