Robert “Bob” Warren Wetzel, 74, of Owensboro, passed away on April 3, 2026, at his home with the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. The Daviess County native was born on March 28, 1952, and was the beloved son of the late Harold and Cordelia Wetzel.
Bob was a proud United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. Following his military service, he devoted many years to nursing, retiring after a lifetime of compassionate care. He touched countless lives through his work at Owensboro Regional Recovery, where he offered comfort, understanding, and hope to those facing some of life’s most difficult moments.
Known for his kindness and generosity, Bob was a true friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand at a moment’s notice. His passion for life was evident not only in the lives he impacted, but also in the art he created. He was a member of the Owensboro Art Guild and an award-winning, prolific artist. Bob possessed boundless creativity and took great joy in encouraging others to explore and express their own artistic talents.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Robert Tony Wetzel, and sister, Catheryn Wetzel.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Edna Wetzel; children, Jon Wetzel and Amanda Moseley; grandchildren, Walker and Asher Moseley, Ryder Hendick, and Stephen Tong; great grandchild, Rylan Tong; siblings, Lennie Wetzel and Tammy Wetzel; as well as many other loving family and friends.
