The Owensboro Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred just after 8 p.m. on Saturday in the 2800 block of JR Miller Boulevard.

According to OPD, a Chrysler Pacifica driven by an adult female was traveling southbound on JR Miller Boulevard when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole and a tree. Police said the impact caused the tree to fall, blocking the roadway for several hours.

The driver, who was the sole occupant, was extricated by the Owensboro Fire Department and transported by AMR to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

The victim was identified by the Daviess County Coroner’s Office as 34-year-old Tina Brooks.

OPD’s Accident Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
