Mary Jo “Smiley” Harmon, 82, of Owensboro, passed away on April 17, 2026. She was born in Owensboro on September 16, 1943, to the late Alphonsus Edge and Agnes Gertrude Pinkston.
Mary Jo was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School and Brescia University. A devoted Catholic, she faithfully prayed the rosary and found great joy in her faith. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Memaw”. She had a special gift for decorating and was especially known for her beautiful seasonal wreaths that brought warmth and charm to her home. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, and following the stock market, and especially loved looking at homes for sale, often gathering inspiration and ideas to make her own home even more welcoming. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her creativity, and the comfort she brought to those around her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darryl Harmon of 56 years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Bobbie Lynn Harmon and her grandchildren, Brandon Lynn Smith and Kristopher B. Smith.
Private services will be held at a later date. Burial to take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
