Rena Faye Banks, 70, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation and Heaven gained another angel. She was born September 12, 1955 in Owensboro to the late Thomas Edward and Geneva Fulton Daugherty. Rena’s life on Earth was filled with purpose and truth. She loved most of all her two children, Dayna and Derek, who were the love of her life and always by her side. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, who always brought her smiles and happiness. Rena lived a full happy life and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends. She spent most of her working years as a secretary to several attorneys, but her favorite job was raising her two children. Rena loved going to Friendly Grove Baptist Church in Gatewood, Kentucky and volunteering at It Takes a Village.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Stephen Daugherty, James Daugherty, Patricia Scott, and Betty Girten.
She is survived by her husband, James F. Banks, Jr.; children, Dayna Scott (Ricky) and Derek Banks (Christy); 12 grandchildren, Cort Banks, Cameron Banks, Dylan Banks, Dalton Banks, Landon Banks, Addison Banks, Cody Payne, Hunter Payne, Tate Scott, Cody Scott, Christopher Scott, and Carly Scott; three great-grandchildren, Lili Flores, Silas Wesselman, and Sage Wesselman; brothers, Gene Daugherty (Thelma) and Vic Daugherty (Debbie); and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousin.
There will be no service or visitation.
