Deborah Ann Denning, 70, of Owensboro passed away Friday, April 24, 2026, at Riverside Care and Rehabilitation. The Daviess County native was born November 23, 1955, to the late Henry Cleveland “H.C.” Denning Jr. and Libby Gatewood Denning. Deborah was raised as the only child by her parents growing up on E. Griffith Avenue. When they both passed, a friend of the family, George Hagan, looked after her care. Deb could hardly sit still and loved being on the go. She worked for several years at the Opportunity Center. She loved going for rides and “driving” by putting her hand on the steering wheel. Deb enjoyed playing Bingo and singing old country songs by Johnny Cash and Patty Loveless and her favorite was “You Are My Sunshine”.
In addition to her parents, Deborah also was preceded in death by her friend and guardian, George Hagan. Survivors include her friend, Amanda and her dog, Scrappy of Owensboro. Special thanks to all the staff that served her throughout her years in the SCL community and Darlene and Kim and the staff at Riverside Care and Rehab for their care of Deb over the last few years.
The funeral service for Deborah Denning will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 1 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with same day visitation from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
