Kenneth “Kenny” William McIntyre, 68, of Hartford passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Heartford House under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of W. Kentucky. The Ohio County native was born July 4, 1957, and raised by the late William McIntyre and Zelma Dean Schroader McIntyre.
He graduated from Ohio County High School with the class of 1975 and from Cameron University Manga Cum Laude with an engineering degree. Kenny was a survivalist, who loved outdoors, hunting, fishing, backpacking, hiking, reading, and living a simple life.
He moved to Western Oklahoma in 1981 and began working for Halliburton in the oil field where he quickly became a respected mechanical “engineer.” While working for Halliburton, Kenny designed and engineered various mechanical products for the oil field that Halliburton was then able to patent. His work also took him all over the world where he worked with many different people from many cultures. During his travels he tried to learn everything he could about a culture, and through these experiences, he developed a love and respect for numerous cultures.
After retirement, Kenny returned to Ohio County where he helped care for his dad, and finished living his dream off grid, on his remote property in Ohio County.
In addition to his parents, Kenny was also preceded in death by his son Wesley McIntyre, granddaughter Josie McIntyre, and step-mom Betty McIntyre.
Kenny is survived by his sons Jonathan McIntyre of Burns Flat, OK., Marshall (Jennifer) McIntyre of Cheyenne, OK; grandchildren Keirsten McIntyre, Kennedi McIntyre, Nathan McIntyre, and Blake McIntyre all of Oklahoma; sisters, Pam (Tim) Lewis, Lisa (Wendall) Patton, Kristie (Kevin) Minton, and Mary (Johnny Moseley) Ashford; nieces and nephews Rebecca (Glen Crowe) Lewis, Cheyenne (Cameron) Roarke, Isaiah (Emily Smith) Minton, Chloe Ashford, and William Ashford; great nephews Brantley, Hudson, and Emerson Roarke and numerous great neighbors, family, and friends.
