Dolores (Wathen) Fickas

Dolores (Wathen) Fickas, 74, of Owensboro, passed away under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky, surrounded by her family. She was born in Owensboro on November 22, 1951, to the late William “Bill” Wathen and Emma “Rita” Fogle Wathen.

Dolores was a loving woman who found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed doing puzzles, reading Reader’s Digest, working Sudoku puzzles, and spending time at the family farm. She especially enjoyed building a fire, settling in with a good book, and taking in the comfort and peace of the farm. Dolores also retired from Walmart, where she spent many years working.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 57 years, Daniel Fickas; her sons, Daniel Stephen (Tina) Fickas and John Anthony (Nichole) Fickas; her grandchildren, Jonathon Stinnett, Reagan Armstrong, Icy Canter, Daniel Douglas Fickas, and Austin Pullin; her great-granddaughter, Shylee Stinnett; her sisters, Shirley (Larry) Millay and Pamela Wathen Tanaka; her brothers, Joseph (Faye) Wathen, Michael (Janet) Wathen, James (Martha) Wathen, and Christopher (Michele) Wathen; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes. Visitation will resume after Mass at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Burial will follow at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery.
