Competing at Saturday’s KHSAA Class 3A State Track Meet, Owensboro’s girls’ team tied for 23rd, and the Daviess County Lady Panthers tied for 31st. Finishing first on the girls’ side was Oldham County, while Male won the boys competition. Apollo, Daviess County, and Owensboro’s boys’ teams were also all in attendance.
AHS: Sending their boys team, the Eagles finished 23rd in the 4x800m relay, while multiple individuals held their own.
“Our kids competed with some of the best and held their own,” Apollo Head Coach Kris Crawford said. “I am so happy for them and proud they qualified. I am going to miss our senior group, as they have been a big part of our overall success. Now I do wish we had a competition for who can stay out in the rain the longest. I think we all tie in that. It’s been a great season, and anytime you get to go to state it’s an honor.”
The top finishers for Apollo included:
- Noah Gray: 9th in 3200m
- Asher Alvey: 11th in 800m
- Gabriel Jones: 14th in long jump, 16th in 300m hurdles, 20th in 110m hurdles,
DCHS: Tying for 31st with Eastern, the Lady Panthers finished just 0.5 points behind 27th place. They were 13th in the 4x100m relay and 17th in the 4x200m relay.
“I think we performed ok,” Daviess County Head Coach Bob O’Brien said. “We had some high spots in Ellie Girten placing third in the high jump, and our 4 x 200 and 4×100 relays placing better than expected. The 4 x 200 ladies broke the school record. …We competed well. The competitiveness in the effort was there.”
The top finishers for Daviess County included:
- Ellie Girten: 3rd in high jump
- Rebekah Moran: 9th in 300m hurdles, 12th in 100m hurdles
- Ryder Williams: 9th in triple jump, 11th in long jump
- Jimarcus Tyler: 14th in 400m
- Kali Nichols: 16th in shot put
- Camryn Edge:17th in 800m
- Judson Redfern: 17th in 3200m
- Anna King 21st in 300m hurdles
OHS: Tied for 23rd with North Hardin, the Lady Devils finished just 14 points off from breaking into the top 10 and finished second in the 4x100m relay, seventh in the 4x800m relay, and 14th in the 4x400m relay. The boys’ team placed 14th in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
“My guys competed hard, but there were a lot of fast teams there,” Owensboro boys Head Coach Drew Hall said. “It was a great experience for our young guys. “
The top finishers for Owensboro included:
- Olivia Hogg: 10th in shot put
- Kimora Duncan: 11th in 100m, 16th in 200m
- Jazlyn Douglas: 12th in 100m, 15th in 200m
“The Lady Devils performed extremely well at the State Championships,” Owensboro girls’ Head Coach Matt Morris said. “Our 4x100m relay (Kimora, Nakiyah, Zahniyah, and Jazlyn) wrapped up their season with a strong second-place performance. Seeded 13th, our 4x200m relay finished with a great seventh-place run as well. We had several other great performances in the 100, 200, 4×4, and shot put to wrap up the season. The Lady Devils head to the off-season with a lot to be happy about and some fuel for the fire for the 2027 season.”
