
Kantilal Shivramdas Patel, 80, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in India to the late Shivramdas and Kashiba Patel. The youngest of four, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Mr. Patel became owner of many local convenience and liquor stores since coming to Owensboro in 2009. He previously owned several businesses in Georgia. Before 2003 he owned a cast iron foundry and served as chairman of Vijay Cooperative Bank in India. From the age of 16 Kantilal worked very hard, maintaining a vigorous schedule and rigid routines. His entrepreneurial spirit and ability to adapt and transition between businesses and environments contributed to much success. He finally retired at the age of 72.
Mr. Patel is survived by his wife of 60 years, Savitaben Patel; his daughters, Taraben Patel (Jayeshkumar) and Sudhaben Patel; sons, Maheshkumar Patel (Sangitaben) and Rohitkumar Patel (Ashaben); eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Remy and Cooper.
Public visitation will be Tuesday, May 26 from 9:30 until 11:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, 900 Old Hartford Rd., Owensboro, KY. Cremation will follow.
