Sara Beth Holland, 63, of Owensboro, passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 24, 2026, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky – Heartford House. She was born in Owensboro on May 24, 1963, and was the beloved daughter of the late Haynes and Opal McCarty.
Sara wasn’t just the life of the party, she created the party wherever she went, no matter the circumstance. She knew how to take life as it came, knowing it wasn’t a bad day, only a bad moment. Sara was also spontaneous, happy to go with the flow and adventure through life. Her friends were family to her, and her family never had to question how deeply she loved them because she showed it so effortlessly and often. Sara also had a passion for traveling, especially when the destination included her favorite place, the beach. She was a true music lover who appreciated many genres, though Stevie Nicks and 80’s music held a special place in her heart. Above all else, Sara’s greatest joy and proudest role in life was being a mother. She poured love, happiness, and warmth into her children’s lives every single day.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Joe McCarty.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 44 years, Lynn Holland; children, Katy (Troy) Hart and Neil (Courtney) Holland; grandchildren, Eli and Haynes; siblings, Mark and Kathy McCarty; many nieces and nephews; as well as her close friends, who may as well been family too.

A private celebration will be held to honor Sara’s life.
