Thomas Aloysious Higdon Sr., age 80, went to meet his Lord on May 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents Norbert and Orene Higdon; his infant brother Joseph Higdon and siblings Catherine Mitchell, Gertrude Garcia, Justine Caddell, and Anthony “Higg” Higdon.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Higdon; his children, Tom Higdon Jr. (Stephanie) of Owensboro, Debbie Rhodes (Marty) of Whitesville, Denise Schindler (Marty) of La Grange, and Chris Goodwin (Chuck) of Denver, CO; his siblings Cecilia Aud, Dorothy Edge, and Bobby Higdon. He was blessed in life with 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He has been a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville, Kentucky, and served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1965.
He will be remembered as a loving, generous Granpda, who loved family gatherings as well as spending time helping others with outdoor projects and gardening. Deeply rooted in his faith, his life was defined by his love of Jesus in the Eucharist and his profound devotion to Divine Mercy.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville, KY. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Church Cemetery in Knottsville, Ky. Visitation hours will be 2:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 27th, with prayers at 6:30 p.m.
