Ira Eugene “Gene” West, 97, went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2026, at his home in Hartford, Kentucky. He was born on April 2, 1929, in Wilson Township, Illinois, to the late Ira A. and Lula Pearl West, and was of the Catholic faith.
Gene lived his life, his way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Russell E. “Rusty” West; brothers, Raymond E., Robert L., James D., and Harold E. West; sister, Pearl E. Gale; and son-in-law, James E. Faulkner.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Regina (Larry) Lunk of Belleville, IL, Karen West of Marion, IL, Patty (Bill) Booth of Marion, IL, and twin daughters, Jan (Dennis) Peach and Jill Faulkner, whom he resided with at Hartford; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held to honor Gene’s life.
