Drakesboro – Wendell Ward Shelton, 77, of Drakesboro, died Friday, June 5, 2026 at 2:09p.m. at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Mr. Shelton was born November 20, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio. He was a truck driver for Reed Mineral. Wendell was an avid fisherman, but even more he loved spending time with his beloved family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Osby and Lucy Shelton; his brothers, Wayne Shelton, Jimmy Shelton, and Poley Shelton; his sisters, Pat English, and Betty Barber; and his daughter, Wendolyn Shelton.
He is survived by his fiancé, Beth Gidcumb; his son, Wendell Bruce Shelton; his daughters, Tabatha Shelton, and Priscilla (Jimmy) Jones; his brother, Kenny Shelton; his sister, Brenda (Keith) DeArmond; his grandchildren, Daniel Shelton, Tyler Shelton, Jon Michael (Rachel) Jones, Jonathan (Aaron) Bumgardner, Ciara (Paige) Rainwater, and Kennedy Shelton-Wilson; his bonus grandchildren, Sabashtin Gidcumb, and Sierra Moore.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 1:00p.m. at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home in Beechmont, with Bro. Curtis McGehee officiating. Burial in Mud River Union cemetery.
