Bill Jagoe has withdrawn from the race for Central Daviess County Commissioner.
A Notice of Candidate Withdrawal signed by Jagoe and stamped as received by the Daviess County Clerk’s Office on June 8 formally removes his name from consideration for the office. Jagoe had entered the race as a Democrat.
Jagoe announced his candidacy earlier this year, campaigning on government transparency, fiscal responsibility, housing solutions, public safety, and economic development. He cited his decades of experience in the housing and construction industry as a key qualification for the position.
In a statement announcing his decision to withdraw, Jagoe thanked supporters and reflected on the campaign experience.
“Daviess County, I have decided not to continue to run for Central District County Commissioner,” Jagoe said in the statement. “I have enjoyed meeting many new people through the process. People who I would have never met. That has been a blessing.”
Jagoe said he still plans to remain involved in the community despite ending his campaign.
“I will find other ways to make a positive impact on Daviess County so my family and others can enjoy a positive future,” the statement reads
He also expressed appreciation to those who supported his campaign.
“I want to also thank all who have supported over the last six months,” Jagoe said.
No reason for the withdrawal was provided in the filing or statement.
With Jagoe’s withdrawal, incumbent Central Daviess County Commissioner Larry Conder will retain the seat. Conder defeated Robert Morris in the Republican primary and was set to face Jagoe in the general election in November.
