James Lemuel Boggess, 93, of Greenville, KY, passed away on Friday, June 5th, 2026 at his residence. He was born on February 6th, 1933, in Greenville, KY, son of the late Paul Lemuel Boggess and Mildred Adeline Winebarger Boggess. He was the oldest of seven children and a member of Greenville United Methodist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Early in life, he had the remarkable good fortune of winning his first car through a Red Cross raffle after purchasing just a single one-dollar ticket. He dedicated much of his career to Consolidated Coal Company, where he worked as an electrical supervisor until moving to Greenville and retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers John Paul Boggess and David Walton Boggess, and two sisters, Dorothy Boggess Carnes and Mary Boggess Turner.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13th, 2026 at 12:30 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY, officiated by Pastor Todd Henson. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, KY.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Mollie Boggess; Two daughters, Kara Boggess (Karl) Kirschstein and Julie Boggess (Tim) Henson; Five grandchildren; Three great-grandchildren; One brother, Dr. Joseph R. (Laura) Boggess; One sister, Ruth Boggess (John) Bates, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday, June 13th at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville from 11:30 AM until service time at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in honor of his lifelong commitment to supporting many charities. Donations may be made in his memory to continue helping children and families in need.
