CENTRAL CITY – Earnest James Walker, 86, of Central City, died Wednesday, June 10, 2026. He was born September 5, 1939, in Muhlenberg County to Earnest and Mary Walker, along with his brothers Raymond and Floyd Walker. Earnest graduated from MC High School in 1957, where he then went into the Air Force. He served four years in California, but also in China on the Island of Formosa, where he was a teletype operator between the USA and Russia.

Earnest lived a strong Christian life, serving his church New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, as their treasurer for more than 30 years. Anyone who knew Ernie knew how much he loved gardening, UK basketball, and the Dodgers.

Earnest was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and grandson, Logan Walker. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Walker (Carr); children, Beverly (Mike) Ryan and James (Linda) Walker; step-children, Sheri Beth (Jeff) Arnold and Terry (Ginger) Carr; grandchildren, Joshua Walker, Taylor Henderson, Jackson Ryan, Courtney (Chase) Clark, and Trent (Taylor) Arnold; and great-grandchildren, Asher Clark and Tucker Arnold.

Funeral services are being handled by Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with visitation on Thursday, June 11, 2026, for family at 4:00PM and public at 5:00PM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11:00AM at the funeral home with Bro. Jewel Martin officiating, assisted by Chase Clark.
