Precious Blood Catholic Church in Owensboro has announced temporary changes to its schedule after Pastor Fr. Carl McCarthy requested to be removed from public ministry for a period of time.
According to the Diocese of Owensboro, McCarthy asked Bishop William Medley to temporarily remove him from public ministry, and the request was granted.
As a result, there will be no daily Mass at Precious Blood for the next few weeks. The church announced the change in a June 8 Facebook post, stating that updates would be provided when daily Masses resume.
The parish said Wednesday adoration will continue as scheduled, though confessions will not be available.
The Diocese said weekend Mass schedules at Precious Blood will continue as usual.
“Bishop Medley asks that we please hold Fr. Carl and the Precious Blood Parish community in your prayers,” the Diocese said in a statement.
The Diocese did not provide additional details regarding McCarthy’s request, describing only that he had asked to be temporarily removed from public ministry.
