Reece Kendall Dowdy, 6, of Utica, died on June 11, 2026 in Panama City Beach, Florida. He was born August 1, 2019 in Owensboro.

Reece never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making everyone around him smile. A whirlwind of energy, love, laughter, and hilarious mischief, he filled every room with joy and was known for his contagious giggles, unexpected hugs, and giant heart. Whether he was riding his beloved earth mover around the neighborhood, convincing Dad and Aunt Shannon to share a few extra sweets and a Dr. Pepper, or making strangers laugh with his natural charm, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Reece was fiercely loving and never missed a chance to tell those he cared about how much he loved them, often shouting, “I love you, Dad!” for all to hear. He adored attending Southern Oaks Elementary, where he loved his teachers and friends and looked forward to each day. He will be remembered for his random hugs out of the blue, his endless affection, his unforgettable sense of humor, and the fact that you could almost always count on his shirt riding up just enough to reveal a little bit of his butt crack. Above all, he will be remembered as a unique and deeply loved little boy whose laughter and love touched countless lives.

He is survived by his dad, William Chris Dowdy; mom, Tiffany Helm; brothers, Sterling, Tate, Jack, and Brett Dowdy; half-sisters, Precious and Jade Lee; grandparents, Kendall Dowdy, Sandy (Bruce) Fitzgerald; aunts, Shannon Capps, Amber (William) Fowler, and Martika Edwards; uncle, Jay Dowdy; special uncles, Justin Hardesty, Steve Smith, and Neil Kirby; and several cousins and family members that will miss him dearly.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate his incredibly bright and shining loving life at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
