Cheryl Stover Cox, 78, of Owensboro joined her husband in heaven on June 23, 2026. She was born to the late Clifford and Lorena Hillegas Stover in Verona, Pennsylvania. She was kind hearted and enjoyed shopping, flowers, and her friends. Cheryl was part-owner of T-Shirts Plus and The Riverhouse Bed and Breakfast. She retired from Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Cheryl would talk to anyone while shopping just to compliment their hair or outfit. She was a marathon shopper and could shop for hours.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Cox, Jr.; brother, Clifford Michael Stover; sister, Diana Lott; and in-laws, Bernard and Elizabeth Cox.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Cox Coombs and her ex, Billy Coombs of Owensboro; stepdaughters, Mischelle (Jason) Williams of Newburgh, Indiana and Marianne (Scott) Smith of Butte, Montana; grandchildren, Emily Hurt of San Diego, CA, Alexandria Bruce of Mayfield, KY, Hannah Stocum of Newburg, IN, Madison Boswell of Winslow, IN, Judson Coombs of Joshua, TX, Kayson Coombs of Winslow, IN, LillyAnne Coombs of Owensboro, and Aimee Coombs of Owensboro; great-grandchildren, Caroline Mills, Alora Dowell, and an Angel baby; siblings, Gary (Carol) Stover of Blairsville, PA, Denny (Junko) Stover of Concord, CA, and Holly (David) Morris of Owensboro. She loved her close friends, Jon and Kris Brennan of Poconos, PA, Danny and Debbie Phillips of Owensboro, Jimmy and Christa Ackerman of Owensboro, and Kathy Spence of Johnson City, TN.
Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be no service.
