Daviess County’s annual Hometown Freedom Fest — featuring family activities, music, and fireworks — has been relocated to Panther Creek Park after heavy rainfall left conditions at Yellow Creek Park unsuitable for the annual Independence Day celebration.
County officials announced Monday that only the event’s location is changing. The celebration will still kick off at 5 p.m. and include all planned entertainment.
The free event will feature a fireworks display presented by German American Bank, live music by Yellow Banks, food trucks, and a variety of family-friendly activities.
Activities include free American flags and commemorative hand fans at the Daviess County Fiscal Court welcome tent, license plate birdhouses benefiting the Hope for Veterans Fund through the Daviess County Clerk’s Office, a petting zoo, inflatables, mini golf, patriotic photo opportunities, a patriotic scavenger hunt hosted by the Daviess County Public Library, and an America 250 exhibition presented by the Gen. Evan Shelby Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Lt. Robert Moseley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Special events throughout the evening include Daniel’s Fun Foam Factory Party from 6-8 p.m., live music by Yellow Banks from 6:30-8:45 p.m., the Presentation of the Colors and National Anthem at 8:45 p.m., and the fireworks show at 9 p.m.
First aid services will be available near the spray park.
Officials are asking attendees to leave pets at home for the safety and comfort of all guests.
The relocation comes just days after ROMP Festival was forced to cancel the remainder of its 2026 event because of persistent heavy rainfall that created hazardous conditions at Yellow Creek Park.
