Owensboro and Daviess County celebrated Independence Day with thousands of residents gathering for fireworks, live music and family-friendly activities over the holiday weekend. While those celebrations have concluded, the festivities will continue this Friday as Whitesville hosts its rescheduled Fireworks in the Park.
The City of Owensboro capped off its expanded All-American Fourth celebration Saturday with one of the largest fireworks displays in the event’s history along the downtown riverfront. The annual event also featured food vendors, live entertainment and activities throughout the evening as the community joined in the nationwide America 250 observance.

Meanwhile, Daviess County’s Hometown Freedom Fest drew families to Panther Creek Park after the event was relocated from Yellow Creek Park because of wet ground conditions. The celebration featured live music, food trucks, children’s activities and a fireworks display to close out the evening.

The free event begins at 5 p.m. with live music, food vendors, games, and family activities, followed by a fireworks display at dusk. The event was postponed from July 3 because of weather.
