Bruce Wayne Hester Sr., 69, of Owensboro, passed away on July 2, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on October 25, 1956, to the late Ellis and Alice (Short) Hester.
Bruce found great joy in collecting coins and old currency, appreciating the history and stories each piece carried. He was also an avid fan of Westerns and war shows, spending many enjoyable hours watching stories of courage, adventure, and history. Above all, Bruce treasured his family. His greatest happiness came from spending time with his grandchildren, and he shared a particularly special bond with his grandson, Ethan. Bruce was also a member of St. Stephen Cathedral.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Bullington; his brother-in-law, Bobby Bullington; and his mother-in-law, Olivia “Babe” Vairin.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Sarah (Vairin) Hester; his children, Katherine Olivia (Jeffery) Henry, Bruce J. Hester, and Bruce W. Hester Jr.; his grandchildren, Ethan Robert Nicholson, Sarah Olivia Hester, Justine Hester, and Zachary Turner; his siblings, Linda Bullington, Cindy (Joey) Masterson, Steve (Karen) Hester, Danny (Barbara) Hester, and Roger Hester; his brother-in-law, Eddie Bullington; along with several nieces and nephews.
