Lee Craig Ford, age 78, formerly of Greenville, passed away peacefully at his residence on July 4, 2026. Lee was born on November 7, 1947, in Fayette County, Kentucky, and was later adopted by Lemont and Suzanne Ford of Greenville, Kentucky. His life was filled with stories, memories, and the people and things he loved most.
Lee had a lifelong love for cars and took great pride in building some of his favorites from scratch. He kept maps marked with cars he dreamed of finding and buying someday, always ready for the next story or adventure. More than anything, Lee will be remembered as a storyteller who loved sharing memories of his glory days, especially when his grandchildren were gathered around listening to every tale.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Lemont and Suzanne Ford; his sisters, Monty Sue Ford and Brenda Simpson; his brothers-in-law, Joe Stobaugh and Delane Simpson; and his nephew, Craig Simpson.
Lee is survived by his sister, Nancy Stobaugh of Hopkinsville; his daughters, Tammie Ford of Greenville and Suzanne Green and her husband, Michael Green, of Morgantown; and his sons, Mark Ford of Greenville and Scott Shields and his wife, Brittany Shields, of Smiths Grove. He is also survived by his grandsons, Timothy Hendrix, Dakota Ford, Caleb Ford, Cayden Ford, William Shields, Carter Shields, and Lance Shields; his granddaughters, Ashley Stephens and Haley Shields; and his great-grandchildren, Karson Johnson, Thomas Hendrix, and Kaylyn Ford. Lee also leaves behind his best friend in the world, his beloved Rottweiler, Molly.
The family has chosen cremation. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Cemetery in Greenville, Kentucky. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
