Leona Wilkerson Dawson, age 88, of Hawesville, KY, passed away July 6, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Breckinridge County on December 16, 1937, daughter of the late Truman and Nancy Rachel Woods Wilkerson. She was a member of Lewisport Wesleyan Church. Leona was a homemaker, farmer and former Avon salesperson. She enjoyed family reunions, photography and gardening. Her family was her life and time spent with them was very important to her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Doris Dawson, son Donald Wayne Dawson, grandson Eric Matthew Dawson, brother William Wilkerson and sisters Annie Poole, Lelar Dawson and Dorothy McCarty.
Leona is survived by her daughters Peggy Gorman of Hawesville, KY and Ruth Brantley (Larry) of Paducah, KY
Grandchildren: Amanda Napier Oost (Terric), Lisa Michelle Hutton (Chris), Laura Ann Love (Justin), Justin Dawson (Jessica), Paul Senn (Tyler), Cody Stinnett (Tanner), Rebecca Little (James), Tiffany Wheatley and Angela Embry (Teddy).
Several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11 AM with burial in the Cloverport Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, 4-8 PM and Saturday after 8:30 AM.
