Dave Parsons 82, of Palmetto, Florida passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 in Palmetto. Floyd David Parsons was born January 17, 1944 in Fair Haven, New York to the late Walter and Freda Andrews Parsons, was married to the former Lydia Carolyn Cole, and was better known as ‘Dave’ to both his family and friends.
Dave was the chief lock operator on the Erie Canal in upstate New York. He enjoyed both hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Carolyn Parsons in 2016 and by his son-in-law, Brian Ashby in 2021.
Dave is survived by a daughter, Stacy Parsons-Ashby of Island; a son, Michael Parsons of King, North Carolina; three grandsons, Nick Ashby, Neil Ashby, and Seth Parsons; a special friend, Janet Adler; a special caregiver, Tom Stevens, who gave his all to Dave each and every day; as well as numerous friends in both Florida and Central New York.
Family services will be held at a later date. There will be no local visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the local arrangements for Dave’s family.
