Charles Don Lyddane

Charles Don Lyddane, 85, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026. He was born on January 7, 1941, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the late Joseph and Mary Beatrice Hardy Lyddane.

After graduating from school, Don enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska, from 1960 to 1965. In 1965, he and his wife, Martha, moved with their son, Jerry, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where Don worked as an EMT and ambulance driver. Their family later grew with the births of two more sons, Mike and Stephen. In 1988, they moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where Don continued his career and retired from the State of Tennessee as a Correctional Officer.

Don had a lifelong love of fishing and photography. He entered many of his photographs in the Tennessee State Fair and proudly won numerous ribbons for his work.

Don was a proud member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans of Tennessee. He enjoyed visiting Civil War battlefields and historic sites and collected Civil War memorabilia throughout his life.

Above all, Don dearly loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his three sons and three grandsons.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Joe, and his grandson, Jeremy.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Payne Lyddane of Nashville, Tennessee; his sons, Jerry Lyddane of Nashville, Tennessee, Mike Lyddane of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Stephen Lyddane (Amanda) of Franklin, Tennessee; and his grandsons, Hayden and Tucker Lyddane of Franklin, Tennessee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and again from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday.
