The Wiz, Waitress, STOMP, and The Music Man are among the nationally touring productions coming to Owensboro as part of RiverPark Center’s 2026-27 Broadway season. The full slate features seven productions, including a holiday concert, and what officials describe as the venue’s most ambitious lineup to date.
The season, sponsored by Owensboro Health, includes Broadway musicals, returning favorites, and anniversary tours, with performances running from September through April.
“We’re proud to offer our most ambitious Broadway season to date,” RiverPark Center General Manager Chris Patterson said. “With more productions than ever before, including two national tours that will rehearse and launch from RiverPark Center, this season showcases not only the quality of entertainment we’re bringing to our audiences, but also the growing role RiverPark Center plays in supporting tourism and economic development in our community.”
Patterson said Owensboro has become a destination where touring productions can prepare before beginning performances around the country.
The season opens Sept. 18 with the 10th Anniversary Tour of Waitress, the Tony-nominated musical featuring music by Grammy Award winner Sara Bareilles. Based on the 2007 film, the production follows Jenna, a talented pie maker searching for a fresh start while navigating friendship, motherhood, and the challenges of rebuilding her life.
Classic musical comedy The Music Man arrives Oct. 4, telling the story of charismatic con man Harold Hill, whose plan to sell a boys’ band to the residents of River City, Iowa, is derailed after he falls for librarian Marian Paroo. The six-time Tony Award winner features well-known songs including “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “Ya Got Trouble,” and “‘Til There Was You.”
On Oct. 16, The Wiz brings its soulful, award-winning reimagining of The Wizard of Oz to Owensboro. The Tony Award-winning musical blends gospel, rock, funk, and jazz as Dorothy journeys through Oz in a fresh take on the beloved story.
The percussion phenomenon STOMP celebrates its 30th anniversary with performances Nov. 12 and 13. The internationally acclaimed production transforms everyday objects such as brooms, trash cans, and industrial equipment into instruments through a high-energy combination of rhythm, movement, and comedy.
Holiday traditions return Dec. 16 with Mannheim Steamroller Christmas. Created by Grammy Award winner Chip Davis, the annual concert features more than 20 instruments, multimedia effects, and many of the group’s signature Christmas arrangements.
The new musical Mystic Pizza comes to RiverPark Center on Jan. 20, 2027. Based on the 1988 film that helped launch Julia Roberts’ career, the production follows three young women balancing love, family, and friendship while featuring a soundtrack packed with popular hits from the 1980s and 1990s.
The season concludes April 6 with Menopause The Musical, a long-running comedy in which four women bond over the shared experiences of menopause while parodying familiar songs. The production has entertained more than 17 million audience members worldwide during its 25-year run.
Season packages can be renewed or purchased new now through July 27. Single-show tickets for all performances go on sale at 10 a.m. July 31.
