Hosting Columbia on Saturday, the Owensboro Bombers rode back-to-back stellar pitching performances to sweep the doubleheader 4-1 and 7-1.
In their 4-1 win, Porter Hay was lights out on the mound, striking out eight over six shutout innings, while Gentry Atwell closed it out in relief. At the plate, Markell Yates went 2-3 with two RBIs, and Jagger Pate finished 2-3 with a triple and one RBI, while Brody Brubaker scored twice.
In their 7-1 win, the Bombers jumped out to an early 2-1 lead, but blew the game open in the sixth, scoring five runs. Brodie Tucker threw a complete game, striking out nine and allowing one earned run over seven innings. Jake Murphy went 3-3 with two RBIs, Brett Poole and Brubaker both drove in a pair of runs, and Eli Hampton finished 1-4 with an RBI.
