Looking to return to the Region Championship, Daviess County 12U softball is off to a hot start, beating Michigan 3-1 and Illinois 6-5 to begin their tournament run.
In their opening win, Michigan had no answer for Michael Knight. She gave up one unearned run and struck out 10 over six dominant innings. At the plate, Presley Roberts finished 2-2 with two RBIs, while Paisley Edge drove in a run.
Against Illinois, Daviess County led 5-2 in the sixth but was unable to close it out. Tied 5-5 entering the bottom of the sixth, Knight doubled home Roberts to walk it off. Avery O’Bryan homered and drove in three runs, while Avary Emmick and Knight both had RBIs. Knight threw a complete game in the circle, allowing four earned runs over six innings and striking out six.
