David Earl Adkins, Jr., age 58 of Hardinsburg, KY, passed away July 17, 2026, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Louisville, KY, on June 28, 1968, son of the late David Earl Adkins, Sr. and Linda Mahoney. David was a licensed HVAC installer for the Louisville Housing Authority, and installed windows for the Koch Corp. He was a member of the Ironworkers Union. He cherished time with his family, was a wonder storyteller and did such a great job that he told it many times so it wouldn’t be forgotten. He enjoyed fishing, target shooting and watching YouTube. A close second to the love he had for his family, was the love he had for the U of L Cardinals.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by a brother Troy and sister Lisa.
David is survived by his wife Kay Adkins of Hardinsburg, KY
Children: Sarah Adkins (Levon Thomason), Ellie (Ryan), Missy Renfrow (Chris), Steven Hendrick (Anna), Bill Hendrick (Jennifer) and Brian Hendrick (Shalayna)
17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren
2 brothers: Mark Adkins (Hope Smith) and Gerald Paragon
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 1 PM with burial in the St. Romuald Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Wednesday.
