Fred A. Towery 71, of Hanson, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at his home in Hanson. Fred Andrew Towery was born February 4, 1955 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Claude Estil and Doris Marie Young Towery.
Fred earlier worked as an offshore oil driller in the Gulf, was a member of the Catholic faith, and a U.S. Navy Veteran.
Fred enjoyed sailing when he lived on the coast, loved watching the Blue Angels, and loved eating, especially Cajun foods. He also enjoyed traveling, family trips to the Smokey Mountains, and playing pool.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Chloe Towery; by two brothers, Charles Towery and John Towery; and by two sisters, Patricia Abney and Brenda Thomasson.
Fred is survived by two sons, Chris Towery (Heidi) of Sulphur, Louisiana and Mark Towery (Christine) of Springdale, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Sam Towery, Isabelle Towery, Evelyn Towery, Alana Towery, Skyler Towery, and Sterling Towery; three brothers, Kenny Towery of Rumsey, James Towery of Island, and Tommy Towery (Glenda Rumage) of Calhoun; and a sister, Linda Towery Koenig (Mark) of Hanson.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Military Honors will be conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415. Friends may visit with Fred’s family from 3:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun.
