Mildred June Coons, 97, of Owensboro, aka Mom, aka Nanny, left to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at the Carmel Home. She was born on November 6, 1928 in Owensboro, KY to the late Herman and Mabel Head McLimore. A Christian, who filled the role of servant every day, was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Bill Coons on March 25, 1998.
June was a member of Third Baptist Church for over fifty years and faithfully served there as a member of the Esther class. She always loved her Third Baptist family.
June lived the last few years at the Carmel Home where she built a personal relationship with the staff there. Her family is so appreciative of the loving care she received from the Sisters and staff members.
June is survived by her children, Mike Coons and Patty Drury; grandchildren, Kirk (Sara) and Kyle (Angela) as well as great-grandchildren, Easton, Landon, Trey, Kali and Journee.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, July 20, 2026 at James H. Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Derek Cain from Third Baptist church officiating. Burial will follow the service in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
