Richard “Dickie” Darrell Pitman, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the Heartford House under the compassionate care of Hospice of Western Kentucky.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Francis Pitman; sons, Chris and Donnie; as well as his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, JoAnn Pitman; his loving daughters, Jennifer, Stephanie, Pamela, April, Jessica and Marceline; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Richard was a hardworking man who enjoyed watching sports, especially UK basketball and football. He will be remembered for his kindness, patience, unconditional love, and quiet strength. He had a heart for his family and was the kind of man who made everyone feel welcome. To know Richard truly was to love him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Heartford House and Hospice of Western Kentucky for the compassionate care, kindness, and dignity they showed Richard and his family during his final days.
There will be public visitation held on Tuesday, July 28, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Heartford House Chapel, 2914 Old Hartford Road. A private service for the family will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Jim Midkiff officiating.
