The Owensboro Police Department is investigating a Wednesday assault that sent one man to the hospital with facial injuries and that also involved the discharge of a firearm.
According to a release, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday OPD responded to a welfare check in the 500 block of Hathaway Street, where officers located signs of a disturbance.
While officers were on scene at the residence, a victim — D’Andre Mitchell, 24 of Owensboro — arrived at the hospital with non-life threatening facial injuries that were determined to have occurred at the residence. According to OPD, It is believed that during an altercation the victim was struck with a blunt object.
Evidence that a firearm had been discharged was also located, but detectives do not believe anyone was struck and no one else was injured during the incident.
