Local business owners in Wesleyan Park Plaza are planning a “block party” on Wednesday that will feature big discounts and live entertainment to provide a fun day of shopping for the community.
“We’re sort of a tight-knit group of stores,” said Jaye Moseley, owner of Excursions. “We’ve found that when we work together to have an event, it usually goes pretty well because we can come together to do some marketing. It’s kind of a celebration too. We were all in the same boat during the whole shutdown, and we’re just so happy to back out in the fresh air again.”
Some merchandise will be on sidewalks to help ensure a safe experience. Customers still need to adhere to safety guidelines.

- Niko’s Bakery
- The Glass Factory
- Shoe Stop
Each business is offering various deals on summer merchandise, while the bakery will be offering a discount on orders for patrons who visit the shops at some point that day.

Moseley said she hopes the community continues to shop local to help support businesses in Owensboro.
“It’s so important to all of us to keep what we’ve built up going,” she said. “We’ve had a lot of good support, and we appreciate it very much.”
