City commissioners approved a municipal order Tuesday regarding an agreement with the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention and Visitors Bureau to recruit, plan and schedule sporting events using the City’s recreational sporting facilities.

The revised agreement with the CVB requires payments from the tourism department to the City, as well as establishes a set number of days that the newly renovated Jack C. Fisher Park can be used at no charge.

City Manager Nate Pagan said in the previous contract, the CVB did not have to make payments to the City.

“The new agreement is for three years, with two one-year renewals, for a total of five years,” Pagan said. “There is no payment the first year, and the second year the CVB will pay the City $5,000, and years 3-5 the CVB will pay the City $10,000 per year.”

Additionally, the agreement allows for 18 free days of tournament use at Fisher Park, Pagan said. The events must have a minimum of 28 teams to qualify for free use of the facility.
