The first edition of the Maher Rankings for boys’ soccer have been released and two 9th District squads are in the top 16, with the Daviess County Panthers holding the sixth spot.
DC is the top-rated school in western Kentucky as South Warren (4th Region) comes in at No. 8.
The Panthers were 21-3-2 a year ago and made it all the way to the state championship game before falling 2-0 to Henry Clay at Bryan Station. The Blue Devils start 2020 as the top team in the state, according to the rankings.
The Owensboro Red Devils will start the season at No. 16.
OHS finished 17-6-2 last season after they lost to DC 2-1 in overtime during the 3rd Region championship.
The Panthers and Red Devils are currently the top two teams in the 3rd Region. Apollo is the next best-ranked team at No. 51. Owensboro Catholic is ranked No. 104.
