Owensboro moves to 2-0 with over Franklin-Simpson
The Owensboro Lady Devils took down Franklin-Simpson 2-1 on the road Thursday to improve to 2-0 this season.
Match officials said the match would be the best of three sets because it wasn’t a district matchup but it still ended up in favor of the Lady Devils.
OHS (25-13, 24-26,25-17) bookended the match with stellar sets as Lainey Hayden (16 kills, 9 aces, 16 digs), Brooklyn Williams (11 kills), Krystell Pappes (17 digs, 9 aces), Kennedy Thomas (18 digs, 7 aces), Jersie Rhineburger (20 digs, 5 aces) and Chase Mather (16 digs) led the Devils.
Owensboro plays Saturday at home against Henderson County.
Daviess County downs Meade in 4 sets
The Daviess County Lady Panthers picked up a four-set win Thursday in their season opener over Meade County.
DC (25-21, 18-25, 25-12, 25-22) was led by a standout performance from Elizabeth Moore. Moore finished with 21 digs, 14 kills and three aces in the victory.
Jose Newcom (9 kills, 8 digs, ace), Adylan Ayer (12 kills), Jasmine Beasley (6 kills, 3 digs, ace), Kloee Phelps (12 digs, ace), Kendal Goetz (10 digs, 3 aces, kill, assists) and Ryan Keller (20 assists, 2 kills, 2 aces) also contributed in the Panthers win.
Daviess County plays Tuesday at Apollo in a 9th District matchup.
Raiders fall to Breckinridge County
The Trinity Raiders were dealt their first loss of the season Thursday when they were swept by Breckinridge County 3-0.
THS (25-20, 25-15, 25-22) couldn’t find its footing against the region foe.
The Raiders were led by Josie Aull (11 assists, 2 digs), Abby Payne (2 aces, 3 digs), Georgia Howard (2 aces, 3 kills, 6 digs), Jenna McDowell (4 kills, block, dig), Taylor Pedley (16 digs) and Corli Mills (3 kills, dig).
Trinity plays Saturday morning against Edmonson County in the 3rd Region All “A” Classic Tournament.
