Daviess County take 4 titles in first race of the season
The Daviess County Panthers hit the road for the first cross country race of the season Saturday and left the Evansville Mater Dei Invitational with four championships in tow.
The Panthers and Lady Panthers each brought home team titles, while Brady Terry won the boys’ race and Emily Ann Roberts won the girls’ event.
In the Lady Panthers’ race, Daviess County cruised to victory by more than 50 points. DC finished with 18 points and had seven of the top 10 finishers.
Roberts finished with a time of 19:51.56 to edge teammate Ainsley Taylor and her time of 20:03.68. Emily Rempe (4th), Micah Sager (5th), Elli Crabtree (6th), Kayley Payne (9th) and Avery Heath (10th) all finished in the top 10 for the Lady Panthers.
The Panthers tallied 28 points on the boys’ side to take the victory, as Castle finished second with 53 points.
Terry won the race with a time of 15:53.70 and teammate Alex Adams took fourth with a time of 16:37.72. Bryson McGary (7th), Nolan Kurz (9th), Parker Leachman (10th), Justin Shelton (11th) and Jacob Kirb (12th) all finished in the top 12 for the Panthers.
