Lady Panthers beat Owensboro for the second time in a week
The Daviess County Lady Panthers’ lone loss of the season came in the second match against district foe Apollo, but since then DC has won five straight games and only dropped three sets in the process.
The latest win came against another district opponent in Owensboro as DC beat the Lady Devils 3-1 (27-25, 25-19, 16-25, 25-11).
Elizabeth Moore continued her solid season with 17 kills and 10 digs while Josie Newcom also finished with 10 kills. Ryann Keller dished out 29 assists while Kendal Goetz (14) and Kloee Phelps (11) also finished with more than 10 digs.
For OHS, Krystell Pappas finished with eight kills and four aces, while Kennedy Thompson led the team in assists with eight and added 10 digs. Jersie Rhineburger (16) and Launey Hayden (10) also finished with double-digit digs in the loss.
Owensboro plays today at Apollo while Daviess County heads to Owensboro Catholic. If the Lady Panthers beat the Aces, there would be a three-way tie atop the 9th District standings and a tiebreaker would be needed for district seeding.
