Owensboro grabs district win over Apollo
The Owensboro Lady Devils improved to 3-2 in the 9th District Tuesday as they took down Apollo on the road.
OHS won the match 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20) for its second win of the season over the E-gals.
Krystell Pappas led the way with 15 kills, 20 digs and six assists for the Lady Devils while Chase Mather (5 kills, 10 assists), Hannah Ashley (2 kills, 8 digs), Kennedy Thompson (11 assists, 7 digs), Lainey Hayden (6 kills, 13 digs), Mia Covington (5 kills, 4 digs) and Jersie Rhineburger (3 assists, 5 digs) all contributed in the victory.
For E-gals, Havnah John had 12 kills while Brylee Rhodes (8 kills, 2 blocks), Aliyah Carwile (7 kills), Tallie Satterfield (5 kills, 2 blocks), Allie Hargitt (21 assists), Maddie Boswell (15 assists), Anslee Hopewell (14 digs, 5 aces) and Spong (10 digs) delivered solid performances.
OHS plays tonight at Meade County while Apollo plays this week at McCracken County in the Quad State Tournament.
Lady Raiders sweep Edmonson County at home
The Trinity Lady Raiders grabbed their sixth sweep of the season and eighth win of the season Tuesday when they beat Edmonson County in Whitesville.
The first two sets were close in the 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-12) contest but the Lady Raiders piled it on in the final game.
Hannah Nash (15 kills) and Georgia Howard (10 kills) each finished with double-digit kills while Jenna McDowell add nine in the win.
Josie Aull dished out 23 assists while Abigail Payne (14 digs), Bailey Millay (12 digs), Howard (12 digs) and Taylor Pedley (11 digs) all play solid defensive games for THS.
Trinity plays Thursday at home against Owensboro Catholic.
