On Christmas Eve, veterans and friends made sure that monuments across Owensboro were not left without a small tribute to honor local deceased veterans.

Bobby Ray Self secured enough fresh Christmas wreaths to distribute to the 18 monuments in the community.

“It’s going to be a good day,” Self said prior to the group visiting the monuments and placing the wreaths.

Self and several others in the area were disappointed this year because many of the ceremonies associated with Wreath Across America were cancelled. That program is a mission that coordinates the wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery with others across the United States.
