More than 500 boxes of food will be available for free to those in need starting at noon. Boxes are being distributed at Church Alive, 325 Carter Road, until they run out.
Each box contains 31 pounds of product — including items such as milk, cheese, meats, apples and potatoes.
Individuals and families accepting a box are certifying they are food insecure, lack money or other resources and are in need of a food box for their household.
Boxes can’t be delivered, but people may pick up a box for family members. Organizers just need a name and the number of people in the family.
The distribution is in partnership with Anthem BlueCross BlueShield and Tri-State Food Bank, a member of Feeding America.
