This is a story in a series on local high school athletes signing to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level.

Daviess County’s Ainsley Taylor decided to stick with red as her color recently as she’ll continue her athletic and academic career at Louisville in the fall.

Taylor finished third in the Class 3A, District 1 regional last season and went on to finish 40th at the state meet. As a junior, Taylor finished second in the regional meet and finished 31st at state.

How does it feel to finally know where you’re going to attend next year and to make it official?

It is very relieving and exciting knowing where I am going to school. After all the stress of applications, visits, and talking to coaches, I finally found my future home.

Why did you choose the school you did?

I chose the University of Louisville because it met all my wants and needs in a school. I wanted to go somewhere where I think I would fit in socially, academically, and athletically. Looking at five different schools, when I found out I was able to run for Louisville, it was a done deal.

What stood out about the program and the coaches?

Coach (Mark) Fortney was familiar with the coach at Louisville, which kept me at ease when looking at a D1 school. Also, two runners I am friends with from DuPont Manual and Bowling Green recently committed and it got me excited. I also knew running for an ACC school would be challenging and I was up for the challenge.

What are you going to study?

I am unsure exactly what I want to study. Currently, I plan to study English and political science.

What are you going to miss about your team and school?

I will miss my team so much. I don’t think I will ever have as much laughs that I have had with my teammates. They are my best friends, I will miss seeing them every day. I am also excited for the next chapter of my life and to meet lots of new people.
